Fog

FOG is usually seen in regions of high pressure with relative humidity is greater than 75%
Currently the fog seen in North India is evectional fogs which are aided by warm easterly winds.

Moisture in atmosphere could condense around particulate matter of diameter in range of nanometers to cause fog. Pollution also increases the intensity of fog.
Formation of fog

• It is formed when difference between air temperature & dew point is less than 2.5 degree C. Fog is formed when water vapours condenses into tiny liquid water droplet suspended in air.

FOG Prediction

• Winter fog experiment is a 4 year multi institutional venture to study fog at IGI airport in New Delhi under ministry of earth sciences.
• Its main objective is to develop better casting and forecasting of winter fog in time and spatial scales.
Fog effects
• Aviation Sector
• Transportation
• Economy
• Loss of human life due to accidents

The winter fog experiment will take a comprehensive look at
1. Factors that contribute to fog formation
2. Effect of pollution on fog
